Candlemas/Imbolc

The feast day of St. Brigid begins on February 1st.
She was an Irish woman who began her life as a pagan goddess and ended up a Christian saint.
February 2nd is known as Imbolc in the Northern Hemisphere and Lammas in the Southern Hemisphere. It is  midway between Solstice and Equinox.
It is also known as Candlemas. A day  in which people during the Middle ages checked their store of candles to make sure they would have enough divine light for the rest of the winter.
For me, I love candle light. Pure Joy !  It gives me an opportunity to grow more peaceful and present as I light candles with intention of honoring the wheel of the year.

  5. I didn't know the history and meaning of candalmas. Thanks for sharing that. I was happy to see the Breathnach quote at the end. I'm reading and living Simple Abundance this year.
