These are beautiful words. They remind me of Tennyson's famous line from a poem he wrote: "we rise on stepping stones of our dead selves to higher things." I am not sure why that came to mind. Here you are speaking of a stepping stone in the shape of a heart protecting you from the mud, something known and trusted. Somehow it made me think of a launching place to something new, a higher experience. Either way, I like it. xo, noelle
