lesson #1
The Universe
like a bellows,
is always emptying,
always full.
The more it yields,
the more it holds.
Tao Te Ching
a simple law of the Universe.
The more you give
the more you receive
~
lesson #2
Let life ripen and then fall;
Force is not the way at all
Tao Te Ching
Let go of any precious plans
you may have for your work.
Learn to go with the flow.

A dear friend Judie recently sent me a beautiful book.
The Tao of Watercolor
I LOVE IT!
To me much of doing art is a spiritual practice
so this book will be well used.

Beautiful, glorious post! I love that you likened art making to spiritual practice, I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteThese paintings are so vibrant, Gemma, they look like stained glass. ♥♥♥
I love the freedom and sheer colour of your watercolours Gemma, and I agree - there's definitely something "Tao" about painting!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome, girl. You are really good with wc. Perfect color coordination, so pleasing to the eye, so free. xo
ReplyDeleteWow! I like the watercolor paintings...you know that first one is my favorite! That book seems like it's very inspiring, and one I haven't seen.
ReplyDeleteI really like the sound of that book! And I agree with Janet - the first painting is my favourite, I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteSame picture, different colors, totally different emotions evoked. I thought I would be drawn to the blue but it was the red that drew me in.
ReplyDeleteHow perfect is that...go with the flow...watercolor zen.
