This month I worked in a journal honoring the
artist Amedeo Modigliani. Above is the journal cover
in collaboration with Stephanie
Modigliani had a unique style.
His life was full of struggles and ill health.
Above is a painting of his lover and the sad story
of their demise.
This journal has one more stop before it gets to its rightful owner.
It will be in the mail to Maggie in the morning.
Gemma, Gemma, Gemma! I love your pages and the story they portray, but I am so in love with your addition to the cover! The cover is genius.. Love the face and hoe perfect it is positioned . Such vision you had for it! Love it all!

Gemma, these paintings are amazing - the characters hold such depth and feeling!! I love the cover collaboration - it works fantastically. And each of these paintings have captured character, history and story. Beautiful touching tribute to the life and family of Modigliani. It really feels as if you completely engaged with his art and life. Fab job! Hugs, Kat xx
ReplyDeleteI love your portrait of Modigliani ~ you have put his suffering into his face, especially his haunted eyes. What a sad story he has! I have not studied him since I haven't had Lisa's journal yet. Your pages are beautiful and such a tribute to him. I'm looking forward to receiving the book, but a bit sad that it will be the last one (except my own which takes some of the sadness away!)
ReplyDeleteGah! I heart this! You continuously outdo yourself!
ReplyDeletesuch wonderful work GEMMA!!! the tragedy of his life
ReplyDeleteis a big part of why i am attracted to his work...the long faces,
the vacant eyes,..all part of his story.
there is beauty in sadness
and you have captured his essence.
thank you!!! ♥ ♥ ♥
