Authentic expression; staying close to what is real and sacred @ gemmashouse
I just love the picnic basket!! What a happier way to spend family time than a picnic?
I wonder where this painting came from? I am curious about the figure in the background. What is he doing? Where did he get those boots? He seems to be dressed for a different era. This is a very unusual picture you have shared. xoxo
Agree. I thought the man was out of place. It is from a 16th century painting by Gerard David, and is in the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
At least the donkey is in keeping with the scene!
oh gemma this is delightful!perhaps golf?just kidding of course but love the quirky quality of this!
Oh Mz. Gemma, so curious am I. I took the picture and cropped it to show only the man in the background, which of course made him bigger. It seems he is not wearing boots as I thought, but high top shoes with leggings, and a turban on his head. I think he has a long stick, and is trying to knock what looks like fruit out of that tree. Makes sense for a picnic. Now we know. :) xo
