Santa Fe
Fanta Se
Portrait of a lady by Gustav Klimt.
There is something I love about Gustav Klimt's art. His paintings are full of intricate and ornate decoration. Particularly in his golden stage when he painted with gold leaf. His work sparkles.
Imagine my joy when I found these store windows in Santa Fe reminescent of his paintings.
Guess I just love sparkles.

Oooooh! Lotsa pretty glitz! Me like. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Gemma. I wonder if the window was by chance or by inspiration.
ReplyDeleteOoooh those window displays are very much to my liking. In fact I love them. I never heard of this painter and thanks for introducing me to him. I have to look him up. I too like his style of painting. Thanks for sharing. Have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteGemma,

Dear Gemma,
ReplyDeleteI just read a book about Klimt called "The Painted Kiss." It was very good too. An interesting portrayal of that time in Vienna. I had not known much about him - had to go look up his paintings after I read the book. I hadn't seen the one that you show. And yes, the clothing is reminiscent of him. I'll stick the book in your package! I'll try to get it to the PO tomorrow. It won't get there by your BD. Sniff. I know - good old procrastinator me.
PS - I love your new painting. It looks like a little Irish cottage or Scottish croft.
ReplyDeleteGemma I looked Gustav up and read his bio and checked out his paintings and really love his work. One of my blogger friends did her version of The Kiss.

ReplyDeleteThe windows are beautiful. I see they resonate with Santa Fe flair. And sparkle. I really never thought of window displays as art before but they are.
ReplyDeleteOhh so soothingly beautiful. Was there anything in the windows that acknowledged Klimt as the inspiration?
