Joy Diet Feast

To the feast I bring an empty bowl.
One to hold a thought
or nothing....
like a zen meditation.

The empty bowl also serves as a reminder of world hunger.
A Hunger Site was founded to focus the power of the Internet on the humanitarian need to eradicate world hunger. Please click on the world hunger site. Each click gives a cup of staple food to the hungry paid for by the site's sponsors.

It has been a pleasure feasting with this enlightened group. Thank you to our lovely hostess Jamie for this feast.

  2. I agree with Gina. We sometimes tend to forget or push to the back of our minds the hunger that exists in this world. Great reminder. I will click on the link a couple of time. Thanks. Take care.

  3. What a lovely idea and painting, Gemma!

I recently read on another blog about an 'empty bowl' project where people buy 1 or 2 bowls which are donated by potters in Central Texas and then, local restaurants fill them with a variety of soups that they donate to the cause. The money earned from the sale of the bowls goes to a local Food Bank which helps to feed kids from low-income families.

  4. What a beautiful painting, Gemma. The message that comes along with it, an even more beautiful one. Your work is always so full of spirit and color. You must a wonderful and amazing person yourself!

  6. I have always loved Stephen Mitchell's translation of the Tao - paraphrasing - about how we use clay to make the bowl, but it is the space inside that is most valuable to us! Lovely painting, Gemma, and thank you for the reminders!

  7. Wow, gemma. That is so profound. Your empty bowl has awed and stilled me (very Zen indeed).

Have I ever told you I think you're such a lovely person, with such peaceful, beautiful energy?

  9. I click EVERYDAY.
I feel guilty if I miss. I shop there to support them too...oh to not have food how awful that would be. I wish the reality were different for those who go hungry...xoxo

  10. What a special way to close out this journey - thinking of bringing a little joy to others. Simple, yes, but so profound and important. Thank you for the reminder that there is need in the world.
