Poppy

A flower is relatively small. Nobody see's a flower-really-it is so small-we haven't time-and to see takes time.
I'll paint what I see.
What the flower is to me.
I'll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it.
I will make even busy New Yorkers take time to see what I see of flowers.

~Georgia O'Keeffe

Following the Masters challenge
this month is flowers.
Right away I knew I wanted to interpret
one of Georgia O'keeffe's paintings of flowers.
My goal is not to "copy" the masters work,
rather to gain an understanding of her example.

To learn and grow from these challenges,
I need to try different things.

Variations I used this time:
-used a bigger brush
-painted without a general outline
-no measurements
-experimented with different kind of water colors
-Let it flow, did not force it into shape.

This was joyful.
