stumbling towards ecstasy

Bliss was found in these true words:

Love After Love
The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the others welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.

You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
~Derek Walcott ~

  2. Oh I love those beautiful words. My my, feasting on one's own life. What a beautiful poem Gemma. I like your painting too. I feel like sitting there and pretending I'm sitting at your house drinking coffee.:) Have a great Sunday.

  5. I Adore Derek Walcott's poem. I have it on my wall at work. I read it often. I Love the little chair that you have painted and included with the poem, so humble, so sweet, with a tiny heart in the center. This is pure magic. thank you. I needed this today.
