Peace train

My Dad was a Railroad Man.
Here he is on a caboose near the station where he worked
in Prescott Arizona.
My family lived up the hill on South Pleasant Street.
Dad went home for lunch every day,
Mom always had it ready for him.
I grew up on that train.
Thanks God.

  2. I looked at your picture and immediately realized that it was of the Prescott Depot! I've lived in Prescott for 24 years now, sorely missing the sounds of the trains after years of living in Flagstaff. Trains also used to run right behind my grandmother's house in upstate New York...thanks for conjuring up such wonderful memories! Very sweet!

  4. You are soooo lucky. Here's a tidbit for you. When I was a little girl, I DREAMED of being a train engineer. Really. It was my dream for years. Of course, I never got farther along in that idea than being a passenger but when I was in my early to mid 20's, I read of a young woman who was actually hired by a local line in Idaho (if I remember correctly) or maybe Colorado. Anyway, she eventually became the first woman engineer and ran a train through the Rocky Mountains. That was a very big deal back then and I loved knowing that she was out there; that my dream wasn't so hairbrained after all.
