Peace Train

The whistle's blowin'
everyone board the peace train
 rolling mindfully

Ride the peace train
~
Growing up on the railroad.
sometimes we lived in Santa Fe houses
right near the railroad tracks.
The sounds of trains rolling by
comforting
Often I slept right through freight trains passing.
~
Hobo's used to stop by our house
Daddy would give them some yardwork to do
Momma would give them some food
~
Walked for miles
barefoot on those tracks
grafitti lovin'
wild onion eating...
out in the country living
peaceful
pigtails
then
~
Even with bumps and sidetracks
peace
now
to this day
on the
peace train.
Haiku My Heart

posted thinking about our own...
who also rides the peace train
SAFE TRAVELS

  1. Beautiful, brings back some nostalgia for me, my house was beside rail-tracks, passenger trains and coal wagons, I played for hours on the shunt line, the trains would go very slow, we easily got on and off! Thanks for the memory. x

  3. Yes, this train is rolling and we can all jump on board and ride together, I say! Thanks to you and our Spadoman for reminding us that we always have tickets to the peace train!

  9. Our house is located halfway between two railroad lines. Sometimes, in the night, I awaken to hear one traveling by and I lay there trying to discern if its sound is coming from the east or the west.

  12. Peace to you today Gemma! There is something comforting about the sound of a train as long as it is not to close, we lived in a house once that was right next to the tracks and when a train went by everything rattled.
