Post cards from Paradise

The best part of my job working in an elementary school library
is working with the little children
and
discovering and sharing childrens literature.
I get to read wonderful stories to the students.
~
This past week I shared the book
Chalk
written and illustrated by Bill Thompson.

Chalk;  magic sidewalk chalk.

A little girl discovers a bag of sidewalk chalk.  As she draws the images come to life.

beautiful illustration in the book Chalk
It is a truely wonderful book.
The boy in the story gets an idea and decides to draw a ferocious Tyrannasaurus-Rex....
the dinosaur emerges and havoc ensues in the park.

Love the genius way the children solve the problem.
They draw storm clouds and rain
to wash away the dinosaur....

In the end one of the monarchs was left fluttering in the rain.

These images were in my mind all week as I read.
Then this morning I went to
recuerda mi corazon
Postcards from paradise
and I knew I would share this there.
with LOVE

  4. I can see you love your job Gemma. It's a wonderful thing to be so enthused about the children. I worked many years in a senior high school and loved the teens, but not sure I could handle those little ones. :) eeeek! Speaking of books, have you read "That Quail, Robert"? It's old, but I just read it for the first time after I found it at an estate sale. Delightful book. I cried at the end. I'm just a sop. xoxoxo

  5. I work in a school library, too, and I am going to ask the elementary school librarian if we have this book. I'm late posting for Paradise, but here I am.
