Magical Journey Journal

The Journey is about to begin.
What a delight is is for me to participate in
a wonderful artist collaboration called
Magical Journey Journal.
It's a round robin journal share that was started
by the extraordinary Priti Lisa.
We were asked to choose colors.
& all it's various shades,
plus other color splashes throughout.

The cover is a dragonskin textured paper
from the middle ages.....or something like that.
 Inside cover
a goddess with words from my heart
inspired by Rumi.
The sky above a magic castle  is where the participants
will sign in.
A crow, my totem animal sits in a tree
awaiting the Rumi verse:

You must have shadow and light source both.
Listen, and lay your head under
the tree of awe.
When from that tree feathers and wings sprout on you,
be quiet.

On an unfinished page a  maiden
beckons for visitors to "Follow this way"
The pages in my moleskin are flimsy. I've had to use alot of gesso and other added papers to build them up.
There is still more work to do. I plan to do some stitching on it
and get it in the mail by this weekend.

  1. Ooh the excitement is building - I've loved this little sneak peek and can't wait until the day it drops through my letterbox!!

  2. First of all Gemma, I can't believe the length of this post...a long one for you:) Your book is extraordinary, like a fairy tale with castles and maidens and dragons (with skin from the middle ages, HBC)
    Magical... and mystical too.
I am overjoyed that you decided to join us ♥♥

  3. Yay! I am loving the dragon skin! Very cool. I also love the maiden and the quaint castle page. So fun! I cannot wait to see her in person.

  4. Have fun Gemma. Your journal looks wonderful.

  5. SO cool! I love the Dragon skin cover and just magical feel to this and I LOVE that you filled the page with many quotes; not just limiting yourself to one...SO SMART. Also love the lady...well, I just love everything about this and am so glad that you're part of our group now.
    Let the fun begin!
P.S. I'm planning on getting mine on it's way to you in the next day or two :)

  6. Love! The richness of the purples and the other colors is glorious! I'm so happy that I'll be seeing your journal soon. And so glad you've joined us this time!

I used a moleskine last time. The pages have gotten so built up that it's fat and bursting now! So no worries. Gesso makes it very durable too.

  7. Your journal is beautiful! A magical journey already in the making. I can't wait to see it in person. Very inviting and intriguing and I am ready to follow inside!!
    So happy you joined us!

  8. I read Priti Lisa's post about this collaboration, I'm intrigued by your Round Robin, enjoy your journal journey magic and all! x

  9. Purple in all its shades/blends is a favourite of mine so I'm excited to work in this gorgeous journal. I love the 'authentic' dragon skin cover :-) And the whole fantasy medieval theme is fantastic! I wish I had done it for my journal :-) Truly loving this gemma - can't wait to hold the finished journal in my hands.
Good to have you as part of the family!
    Kat Xx

  10. I love your purple dragon-skinned, mysterious and magical journal Gemma! I can't wait to see it in person and explore purple, the colours you've used here are very inspiring! x
