Artist Way
Recovering a sense of strength
week 8

Art Date
Every year the Arizona Ballet performs "Ballet Under the Stars". These FREE events are usually held at the beginning of the season and preview some of the dances that are in the up coming schedule.

Sunday I went to a performance held at a lovely park near me. A proffesional stage was set up in an open grassy area. I took a blanket,a thermos of tea, some fruit, cheese and nuts. I also took my 3 year old granddaughter. She loves to dance. She wore a pretty little dress and ballerina slippers. She danced and twirled on the grass to her hearts content.

It was lovely to watch Arizona Ballet perform excerpts from Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and Stravinsky violin concerto choreographed by George Ballenchine.
AWESOME! Several times my grand daughter was so delighted she gave me a big kiss on my cheek.

The weather has cooled off to pleasant. Watching the ballet under a pink setting sun, while the stars came out,was utterly gorgeous.

I am regaining strength and resolve by going on my art dates, filling the well with good things, writing every morning, watching and enjoying synchronicities in my life.
Wishing you all a sense of strength.

  3. Oh Gemma!! What a delight to my eyes! I so love the ballet! I've only been to two performance in my many years...One was The Nutcracker in Seattle, and one was Swan Lake in Chicago. I wish I could go to them all. I am awed by the grace, beauty, and strength of ballet dancers. I hope I can go to more. Love that Arizona does a free show too; wish they did that here! And it is a great way to spend a day!!

  4. I just love, love little girls who think they are ballerinas.. no inhibitions, no self-consciousness... twirling and plies and pirouettes - you must make her a tutu!!
