Desire

In that quiet place inside
I know I have a desire to travel.
And then what?

I know I have a desire to make art
And then what?

I have a deep desire to garden
And then what?

After all the roads have been traveled
After I've made art and more art
After the garden has been tilled, harvested and replanted
then what?

Then:
What I really want is to be in each moment.
On every road I travel I want to be there moment by moment.
To enjoy every new view and savor each sip of water or wine.

While I am painting or drawing
I want to be the pencil and the paper and the smudge
and be each one in that moment.
I want to be there in each brush stroke....and love the light
that comes into the room.

I want to watch the garden grow moment by moment,
to eat the fruits that have grown there
and taste the lusciousness of them. I want to marvel at the abundance
that is ours, in perfect moments of happiness.

Simple desires
but true
not too hard....
but will keep working on this to
deeply define other desires.

  5. Absolutely lovely! As your poem unfolded, I found myself being more and more in the moment. In fact when I read the line about savoring each sip of water or wine, I was sipping my coffee, and savored it more because of your words.

May each moment be full :)
