Drive down to 14 Sandy Lane in Lisburn,
Belfast Northern Ireland
and you will see
what appears to be lavender fields.
Ireland is such a rural country dirt roads even in Belfast.
It's possible to be in the middle of a city and still have farms all around.
This is the scene I chose to paint for Virtual Paintout's visit to Belfast. It is a pen and Ink drawing colored with oil pastels.
Please visit the site to see other artists paintings of that city.
I liked the rows upon rows of brownstones in downtown Belfast.
Alot of them show wear and the destruction of war on them, graffiti, broken windows
and such. I chose a more pastoral scene.
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Gemma. Exactly one of the images I have in my head when I think of Ireland. The colors are lovely too!
ReplyDeleteSerene artwork of the Irish countryside. I drew a few places in the city, but kept "driving" out of town for my inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI see you have the Buena Vista Social Club listed in your profile under 'music'.
"Chan Chan" is one of my favorites!
I DID NOT know that they grew lavender in Ireland. I guess I was thinking it was the heather of Scotland when I saw your pic!
