Imaginary Lives
Throughout TAW Julia Cameron asks us about our imaginary lives. She asks us that question over and over. How would you choose to live a different life?
Sometimes I think perhaps I'd like to be far away from the crowds...to be a hermit sitting alone with my thoughts....
Then I realize I want to be The Queen of the earth....and all it's bounty. If I were I'd share with everyone.
But when my inner gypsy calls...INNER GYPSY (in'er jip'si) n.1. The internal mind and spirit of a wandering people found throughout the world and believed to have originated in India,
they are known as musicians, actors, artists, jokers, fortune tellers.
2. A part of the human consciousness which seeks perfect freedom from society’s rules and regulations, and desires to play,
to dance, to sing, to be creative, and to connect with humankind.
3. Guiding influence resulting from the presence of the Gypsy in the soul of the individual.
4. Someone like you.
I start dancing.....
and realize I already live all of those lives both in reality and in my imagination.
Very nice. I could see myself in the definitions of the Inner Gypsy, as well ;) Maybe we all have these archetypes in us: hermit/sage, mother/nourisher, wanderer/free spirit...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful interpretation of that exercise :)
What a wonderful imagination you have, Gemma! I think I'd best fit in with your number one idea! Then again, I am filled with wanderlust, so maybe #3 is a better fit? My imaginary life has me with millions and deciding how to use it to help my kids and us live more worry-free! LOL
ReplyDeleteI think number 1 fits be best. Then again I find myself in the days of Cleopatra. Sometimes when I'm in my backyard I am only number one. I don't know but I love your imagination. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteI would be with you on each of these lives!!! fantastic and love, love the way you posted them xo
ReplyDeleteOh Gemma, you're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of Tasha Tudor made my heart leap - one of my very favorite images in the world, and I didn't realize it until I saw it here again. Thank you for that.
Gypsy and Mother Earth, oh yes yes yes.
Your light is shining through again. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThe inner gypsy beckons to me often and, sometimes, I yearn to be on a deserted island alone just like Tom Hanks was in Castaway.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Gemma ~ :)
Gemma, you know me and know that my first choice would be to be an ancient Celt. And you know the lady in the first picture is one! But I do so admire Tasha Tudor (picture No. 2). And finally, yes, a Gypsy, in the Bohemian sense of the word. In fact, I think I would put Bohemian first on my list. But unfortunately, although Gypsies are associated with the Bohemian life, in their association with the Romany family they are also associated with thievery, chicanery, etc. so I would not want that connotation. Yes, it would have to be an Inner Gypsy. I am not an artist, actor or fortune teller, so I would have to be a story teller (but only on paper - I get tongue-tied in public).
